![]() Another frantic Google search followed which revealed that Firewalls and Anti Virus programs prevent the driver from installing. After running a file search I noticed it was not installed on my PC. ![]() The iPhone requires two pieces of software installed on the PC – Apple’s USB driver USBAAPL.SYS and Apple Mobile Device Support. None of them worked and in frustration I started troubleshooting again. Surprised I did as instructed but in vain, I googled and came across Apple’s support page which supposedly had multiple solutions to the problem like unplugging other USB devices, restarting and reinstalling iTunes. After a restart I connected the iPhone and launched iTunes which immediately gave me an error ‘iPhone is not supported by iTunes, please reinstall iTunes and try again’. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes (ver 7.4.3) and Quicktime from Apple’s website and installed on my Windows XP desktop. After a few minutes of playing with it I decided to add some songs to it. I finally got a new iPhone yesterday, apparently I dont use ATT so I had to get an unlocked version. OctoiPhone + iTunes 7.4.3 + Windows XP = Hell
